My Approach

My approach to your therapy is designed to help you rediscover yourself amidst this chaos, enabling you to find calm, ease, and happiness in your life. Through our collaborative work, we will explore strategies to shift negative outlooks, empowering you to create the life you want and fostering a positive relationship with yourself.

As an integrated therapist, I draw from diverse theories, combining classical psychodynamic principles with contemporary existential and transpersonal perspectives. This allows me to offer you a comprehensive toolkit to find what resonates best for you.
Together, we will create a supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts and emotions openly.

I will share my knowledge with you, equipping you with insights and tools to navigate the challenges in your life on your own, empowering you to continue your therapeutic journey independently.

If you have specific areas to focus on or questions, please feel free to reach out at 07786488766 or email me at emma@emmadashwoodpsychotherapy.com.

About Me

With over 20 years of experience in mental health, I began my career in the NHS as a psychotherapist, specialising in long and medium-term therapy. For the past 15 years, I have been dedicated to private practice, successfully addressing a wide range of issues for individuals and couples.

I work with

  • Couples
  • Groups
  • Individuals
  • Private healthcare referrals

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Understanding your ADHD is different for everyone, as each diagnosis is different. Together, we will explore how your ADHD manifests in your life and learn to harness its strengths, transforming it into your very own superpower.
If you have a fiery temperament, it's possible that the intensity of your emotions can sometimes burn those you love the most. In therapy with me, you'll learn to embrace and celebrate your fiery nature instead of feeling ashamed of it. Together, we'll harness that warmth into a more loving expression while recognising the kindness that lies within you. By doing so, you can transform your fire into a source of pride rather than something to hide.
When you pay attention to what makes you anxious and listen to the signals your body is sending, you can create a space to breathe and process those feelings. By embracing this process, you can transform anxiety into a powerful force that guides and inspires you in your life.
Depression can be overwhelming, I will walk alongside you. Together, we will work to shift negative thought patterns into positive ones. Change is certain, and therapy can help you navigate feeling stuck and isolated. By understanding the root causes of your thoughts with empathy, we can pave the way for your transformation and healing. In our sessions, you’ll find a space to explore your mind and develop strategies to help you navigate the difficulties that will arise in your life.
Whether you're a couple, partners, parents, siblings, or friends, every relationship has its own unique dynamics. As we grow and change, these relationships may face challenges in adapting. With the right support, you can navigate these hurdles together and emerge stronger than ever.
