I am an accredited psychotherapist and supervisor with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), a Senior accredited clinical supervisor with the British Council for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and BUPA recognized. I have over 12 years experience as a clinician working in the National Health Service and over 18 years in private practice. I provide counselling and psychotherapy for a range of problems. I have post qualification experience working with a range of symptoms and psychological problems in NHS hospitals and in private practice. I offer a confidential service to individuals and couples in distress. I have studied and trained to PhD level in various models and have come to describe my model as interpersonal. My experience in NHS hospitals and in primary care working alongside psychiatrists, occupational therapists, psychologists, psychotherapists and counsellors has sensitized me to a variety of ways of working and conceptualising problems that are helpful to clients.
My PhD doctorate research in psychotherapy provided further training in understanding psycho-somatic problems and how CBT and psychodynamic therapists work with these problems. Some people find it difficult to get in touch with their feelings, may bottle up and distress can be expressed through becoming physically ill. Therapy can help.I have provided clinical supervision to counsellors and psychotherapists both in the NHS and in private practice.
My publications provide evidence of research in various areas of psychotherapy. See:
