About Me

Hi! Welcome to my profile. I am Deniz, a Transactional Analysis (TA) psychotherapist and a relationship specialist working with individuals, couples and families. My experience extends beyond the private setting; I worked at multiple NHS practices, where I’ve had the privilege of supporting clients from all walks of life. As a result of this and my cultural heritage and experience across continents, I bring a multicultural perspective to the sessions.

Research shows that healing begins with connection, and I am here to foster that special bond with you. I've witnessed the transformative power of genuine human connection in the therapeutic process, across cultures.

Warmly,

Deniz

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I understand anxiety not just as a concept, but as a lived experience—one that can feel overwhelming, persistent, and at times isolating. Anxiety often stems from our nervous system's natural threat response becoming overactive, and repressed, unprocessed events in our lives, making everyday situations feel more intense than they need to be. With this understanding, I focus on helping clients by exploring the root cause of their anxiety, developing awareness, working on coping strategies, and creating space for a calmer, more balanced way of living.
I work as a relationship specialist, supporting individuals and couples in understanding the patterns that shape how they connect with others. Research in attachment theory shows that our early experiences can influence how we relate—how we communicate, handle conflict, and seek closeness. We explore patterns and past experiences which can help highlight how misunderstandings and unmet needs influence the way we connect over time. My focus in couples work is on helping clients recognise and understand these patterns, improve communication by obtaining new skills and develop more secure and fulfilling ways of relating.
I bring a deeply personal understanding of cultural transition to my work, shaped by a life lived across continents. Born and raised in Turkey, and having spent significant time living across continents, I have experienced firsthand what it means to navigate different cultures, languages, and social expectations. Each move came with both opportunity and challenge—adapting to new environments, rebuilding a sense of belonging, and negotiating identity in unfamiliar spaces. These experiences allow me to genuinely connect with clients who are expats, immigrants, or living between cultures. I understand the subtle and not-so-subtle difficulties that can arise—feelings of isolation, cultural misunderstanding, identity shifts, and the emotional complexity of being “between worlds.” Because I have lived this reality myself, I offer not just professional support, but empathy grounded in real experience, helping clients feel seen, understood, and supported as they navigate life far from their place of origin.
Identity can feel uncertain or unsettled at times, particularly during periods of change or stress. Our sense of self continues to evolve throughout life, and identity formation highlights how experiences, relationships, and environments all shape how we see ourselves. When this sense of identity feels unclear, it can lead to confusion, self-doubt, feeling disconnected or lost. I help my clients explore and understand how these experiences might be impacting them to bring greater clarity and a more stable sense of self over time.
Relationships are a central part of our well-being, shaping how we experience connection, trust, and emotional security. Communication skills, old patterns, expectations, and emotional needs all play a role in how relationships develop and change over time. I aim to help my clients understand these dynamics, which can help bring clarity to the challenges experienced in relationships and open up the possibility for more balanced, respectful, and meaningful connections.
