I strive to create a safe and accepting space for my clients where we can gradually build a strong therapeutic relationship. From this relationship we are able to work together to come to better understand the nature of the difficulties each person is faced with and hope to create new conditions for growth and change. I believe that self acceptance and self compassion are an important part of this process. I hope to engender in my clients a sense of curiosity about themselves and others, and for them to experience the therapy as a collaborative endeavour. I take quite an active approach in the room with my clients but I’m not directive or solution focused. I encourage prospective clients to come for an initial consultation so they can see if they feel I would be a good fit for them and also for me to be confident that I would be a good therapist for you.
I work either open ended or in a time limited frame. The initial consultation is an opportunity for you to talk about what you feel most comfortable with. I work online or in person and this is on a weekly basis so requires a commitment to a regular day and time in the week.
I have been practicing in Brighton as a qualified therapist since 2010. Prior to this I worked in London and Brighton as a Registered nurse in the NHS specialising in HIV and sexual health. I trained as a Clinical supervisor in 2015 and I work with both trainee and qualified therapists. More recently have enjoyed working as a group facilitator at the University of Brighton.
I primarily work therapeutically with adults and older adults, couples and young people. I have an MSc in Psychotherapy, PG Dip in Psychodynamic Counselling and a certificate in Psychosexual therapy from the Tavistock Clinic.
I practice from comfortable and easily accessible clinics situated in Hove.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
