About Me

I'm Deborah, a Gestalt psychotherapist. I offer a supportive space to explore what's happening in your life, understand yourself better and find new ways of dealing with difficulties.

People come to therapy for different reasons. You might be experiencing anxiety, struggling with relationships, going through a significant life change or finding it difficult to make sense of how you feel. Perhaps something keeps repeating in your life, or you have a sense that things could be different, even if you're not sure how. You don't need to have a clear explanation or know where to begin.

As well as being a psychotherapist, I work in culture, leadership development and social impact. This experience has shaped my interest in people, relationships and the ways we navigate change. I'm interested in how our experiences influence the way we see ourselves and others, and what's possible in our lives when we begin to think or feel differently.

I work with adults who want to explore difficulties in their lives, understand patterns in their relationships or develop a stronger sense of who they are. I aim to offer a non-judgemental space where you can speak openly and explore things at your own pace.

My Approach

I practise Gestalt psychotherapy. This approach pays attention to your experience in the present, including your thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, relationships with other people and the systems you inhabit. It can help us notice patterns in how you respond to situations, understand where these patterns may come from and explore whether different ways of responding might be possible.

I see therapy as a collaborative process. We work together to explore what's important to you, rather than following a fixed formula or me telling you what to do. I bring curiosity, openness and professional experience, while respecting that you are the person who knows your life best.

Depending on what feels relevant, we might explore something happening in your life now, look at experiences from the past or pay attention to what happens as we talk together. My approach is flexible and creative, and I may draw on ideas from Transactional Analysis, trauma-informed neuroscience and dreamwork alongside Gestalt psychotherapy.

Therapy can involve difficult feelings and questions, as well as moments of clarity and change. We can take time to understand what's happening and work at a pace that feels manageable. My aim is to help you develop a clearer understanding of yourself, your relationships and your choices, so that you can find ways forward that feel more considered and more in keeping with who you are.

I welcome adults who want to explore a range of personal and emotional difficulties, including:

- Anxiety and feeling overwhelmed: understanding worry, emotional pressure and difficulties managing what life brings.
- Relationships: exploring communication, boundaries, intimacy and recurring difficulties with other people.
- Life changes and transitions: making sense of uncertainty, loss, changing circumstances or questions about what comes next.
- Identity and sexuality: exploring questions of identity, belonging and living in a way that feels right for you.
- Work and purpose: reflecting on work-related pressures, career changes, leadership and questions about meaning and direction.
- Finding your Creative Voice: expressing yourself, tapping into inspiration and authenticity.
- Past experiences and trauma: exploring the ways difficult experiences may continue to affect your feelings, relationships and sense of self.
- Personal development: developing self-awareness, understanding familiar patterns and exploring new possibilities.

You are welcome to get in touch even if your reasons for seeking therapy don't fit neatly into one of these categories.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, particularly if you haven't spoken to a therapist before. You don't need to prepare anything or know exactly what you want to talk about.

I offer a free 15-minute introductory call so we can briefly discuss what has brought you to therapy, what you're looking for and any questions you have about working together. It also gives us an opportunity to consider whether working together feels like a good fit.

If you'd like to find out more, you're welcome to get in touch.
