My Approach

I work relationally and imaginatively. The relationship we build is not simply the setting for therapy; it is where much of the work happens. I listen closely, ask real questions and say what I notice. Alongside conversation, we may also work with dreams, image, poetry, myth or bodily experience — not as techniques to be applied, but as different ways of listening when ordinary explanation reaches its limits. I call my practice Rewilding Therapy because much of what constrains us once began as protection. The work is not about becoming somebody else, but loosening what has become too rigid so that more feeling, imagination, choice and connection can become available. We begin with a short introductory call, at no charge, to see whether this feels like the right place for the work.

About Me

You may be thoughtful, capable and used to carrying a great deal. You may have read, reflected and coped for years — able to explain yourself fluently, and still remain caught inside the very thing you understand. Explanation is not the same as change. I am Debbra Winton, an integrative transpersonal psychotherapist working with adults in Archway, North London, and online. I hold an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Transpersonal Psychotherapy from Re-Vision and a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling. Before becoming a psychotherapist, I ran a bookshop for many years — my first education in listening to what people carry and what they are reaching for.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I work extensively with ADHD, including late discovery — the exhaustion of managing it, the shame that often travels with it, and the real shifts that become possible when you're properly understood.
Often what looks like anxiety is a life grown too narrow around what we've survived. I work with the pattern underneath, at a pace that feels manageable.
Including the quieter forms — flatness, disconnection, a sense that life has grown smaller than it should be.
I work extensively with OCD — the exhausting loops, the shame that gathers around intrusive thoughts, and the fear underneath it all. You won't have to justify how it feels; we start from being properly understood.
Trauma can leave us living carefully inside a smaller life. I work gently and relationally with what's underneath — at a pace that feels manageable, and never forced.
