If you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or caught in patterns that no longer make sense, you’re not alone — and you don’t have to face it by yourself.
You Might Recognise Yourself In Some Of The Following:
* Feeling anxious or restless, even when there’s no clear reason
* A sense of emptiness, low mood, or emotional disconnection
* Fear of rejection, abandonment, or being “too much” in relationships
* Difficulty trusting yourself, your feelings, or your decisions
* Exhaustion from work pressure, burnout, or difficult environments
* Feeling different, unseen, or not quite belonging — socially, professionally, or emotionally
* These experiences often have roots in earlier relationships or life experiences and can continue to shape how you relate to yourself and others.
Who I Work With
I work with adults (18+) who are often thoughtful, capable, and outwardly high-functioning, yet internally unsettled.
Many of my clients experience anxiety, chronic stress, repeating relationship patterns, or persistent self-doubt. Others are navigating demanding professional lives, questions of identity or sexuality, or significant life transitions.
Many people I work with are used to coping. Therapy often begins when coping is no longer enough.
Understanding The Patterns Beneath The Surface
Therapy is not about “fixing” you, but about understanding yourself more fully — and changing what no longer serves you.
Together, we explore how past experiences, emotional wounds, and unconscious patterns influence how you think, feel, and relate today. As understanding deepens, new choices and possibilities can begin to emerge.
My approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and grounded in trust. I aim to create a space where you can reflect openly, understand yourself more deeply, and move forward with greater confidence and clarity.
I work integratively, meaning I tailor the work to you rather than fitting you into a single model. I draw on psychodynamic and relational therapy, person-centred and trauma-informed approaches, existential thinking, and coaching where appropriate.
I’m Dean Palmer, a UKCP-accredited psychotherapist, BACP-registered counsellor, and executive coach with the Association of Coaches.
In my therapy work, I offer a calm, thoughtful space where complex emotional experiences can be explored with care and depth, without judgement. Before training as a therapist, I spent many years working as a television executive in high-pressure creative and corporate environments. This gives me a strong understanding of performance, identity, stress, ambition, and sustained pressure — both professionally and personally.
I hold an MSc (Distinction) and Clinical Diploma in Psychotherapy from the Metanoia Institute and a Coaching Certification from the University of Cambridge. I am a UKCP-accredited psychotherapist and a BACP-registered counsellor, and I work with AXA, Aviva and Vitality insurance providers.
I always offer a free 15-minute phone or Zoom consultation. A relaxed, no-obligation conversation to help you decide whether I’m the right psychotherapist for you.
I work in London (Clapham SW4), Brighton & Hove (BN3) and online across the UK and internationally.
My website is www.deanpalmer.co.uk, and email is dean@deanpalmer.co.uk
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
