My academic, vocational and personal experiences have led me to develop a broad and holistic approach to mental health. I believe that working to achieve greater balance in body, mind, and spirit can form a more symbiotic, and interconnected being with the people and environment, with whom and in which we live. Working with each of these aspects of Self can result in the most profound transformations greatly improving and enhancing our quality of life.
At the core of my approach is the knowledge that our challenges hold meaning, potential insights and understanding which we can bring to consciousness and explore in a safe and respectful way. I inherently believe that we all have a natural tendency to heal and grow, our minds and bodies providing the wisdom from within us, a place that can be a difficult to go to without support.
I work in a relaxed, client-led and integrative approach informed by various schools of psychotherapeutic thought using creative methods to complement and support our work such as drawing, sandplay and dreamwork if appropriate.
I prefer to offer in person sessions, supplemented by online work as necessary to maintain the flow of our work together but can work online in circumstances where distance requires.
From working in the renewable energy industry and wanting to play my part in making the world a place in which we can all thrive, I have learnt at first hand the challenges, uncertainty and worry that we all face in a society within a natural and technological environment that seems to be changing at an ever increasing rate, affecting our everyday lives and impacting our relationships – with loved ones at home, work, family and perhaps most of all, with ourselves.
As a key part in my own journey, I trained to become an Integrative Psychotherapist to offer support to others navigating the challenges of modern life, in areas ranging around anxiety, depression, stress addiction, bereavement, addiction, redundancy, life crisis/events spirituality, culture, religion, domestic and sexual abuse, PTSD, ADHD and other mental health conditions. Part of our work will be to explore the influence of life experiences that may be affecting the quality of our lives. I have a particular interest in supporting those exploring and reflecting upon relationships, Gender, Sexuality & Relationship Diversity (GSRD) and am LGBTQ+ aware.
I am accredited by the UKCP having qualified as an Integrative and Transpersonal Psychotherapist (PG Dip) at the Centre of Counselling and Psychotherapy Education in Paddington, London, of which I am an active member.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
