David runs Deep Connection which is a well-established Mindfulness based Psychotherapy Practice in the heart of Brighton. Mindfulness based psychotherapy takes Buddhist psychology as its starting point, integrates this with Western psychodynamic, development theory and combines them both with the rapidly evolving insights from the world of neuroscience (the study of the brain and the nerv-ous system). This powerful practice allows us to explore and potentially transform our relationship to ourselves and to others, by learning how to bring a curiousity and a non-judgemental awareness to the whole of our experience in the present moment.
This includes our thoughts, our feelings, our emotions and our ‘felt-sense’ of the sensations or the energies which are always subtlely moving through (or can get stuck in) our body. All of these can offer us vital and often missing information about ourselves, which we are mostly unaware of be-cause we are so attached to living in our minds (that we ignore or minimise the information that our bodies are giving us). By bringing these into our awareness, we can begin to experience and slowly witness and understand for ourselves, how these combine with our personal histories, our traumas, memories and beliefs, to create habitual patterns of behaviour and ways of seeing ourselves and interacting with the world that no longer serve us.
A willingness to explore and work with this in therapy is potentially the beginning of a journey to un-derstanding, self-healing and well-being. If you sense or feel that this way of working resonates with you, you are very welcome to contact me for a free initial consultation.
