I am a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist who works in the London Victoria area. My training underlines my belief that sometimes our experiences can leave us feeling insecure or lacking in confidence, making it difficult to form or sustain healthy relationships or cope with everyday life. Talking this through with a psychotherapist can help you to understand and value yourself more. It is not the job of a psychotherapist to tell you what to do but to offer you different perspectives and a different experience of relating.
Psychotherapy provides a confidential space for you to express yourself and reflect on problems and their underlying causes. Therapy can be challenging - you may face difficult current feelings or past trauma which impact on how you think or feel about yourself. My aim is to offer a safe, secure relationship in which we explore these difficulties together.
It is natural to be anxious if you have not seen a therapist before. The initial session is a chance for us both to meet, for me to get to know a bit about you and explore how therapy might help. If we then decide to continue the sessions they would be at a minimum of once weekly and would be arranged for a regular time and day of the week.
I trained as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist with the Guild of Psychotherapists. I have a special interest in working with depression and anxiety, bereavement, loss, fertility issues, addictions and the effects these have in day-to-day life and the workplace. I also work with attachment difficulties which stem from British and Irish boarding/public school abuse and violence.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
