I am a Transpersonal Integrative psychotherapist. My psychotherapeutic perspective places you, your unique qualities, and your individual needs at the centre of the work. Working integratively makes this possible, as I continuously cultivate a range of skills from various approaches, which enable me to best meet your needs.
Being in therapy with a trained psychotherapist means that you have a space to be completely open, honest and learn about yourself without judgment. It is a place where you can talk about anything: your past, your struggles, as well as your successes and dreams about your future. It’s private, safe and confidential. Learning to trust someone can take time; how long that takes is different for everybody.
I am a fully qualified Psychotherapist with a Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy (CCPE) in Paddington, London. I have been a UKCP member since 2017. I offer thoughtful, relational therapy for adults experiencing anxiety, overwhelm, loss of meaning, or relational difficulty. I work with depth, clinical care, and attention to the nervous system.
My approach integrates learning and skills from 5 years of psychotherapy training, 8 years of private practice, and 7 years of teaching yoga.
I have recently completed a Research Masters in Psychotherapy titled ‘Dyslexic or a Human Being? A Transpersonal Perspective on Labelling'. Specifically, my research explored my own experience as a person with a dyslexia diagnosis (given age eight) and how the ablest systems that we are measured against can cause feelings of shame, inadequacy and lack of confidence.
I am particularly interested in how a dysregulated nervous system can make it much harder to carry out tasks such as reading, writing, form-filling or responding to instructions and how, with the help of a ‘regulated other’ in psychotherapy, we can learn to self-regulate. Tools that aid this are self-compassion practices, breathing practices and embodiment exercises, like mindfulness, to name a few. When we can self-regulate, achieving difficult goals and being in challenging situations is easier.
I have more than eight years of previous experience practising as a yoga instructor and hold a degree in Fine Art. I like to encourage my clients to use whatever medium they favour to help the therapeutic process - this might mean using breath, movement and relaxation techniques as well as using art materials to express ideas and thought where words are hard to find.
I recently participated in an Intermediate and Advanced Training Programme in Non-Violent Communication and Conflict Resolution with Yoram Mozenson, Mothering The Bones training with Kimberley Ann Johnson and one Module of the BodyMindCentering programme on the nervous system,
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
