In practice I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches — exploring how you feel in the here and now, how past experiences may be affecting you, and how you might develop new coping skills to support yourself moving forward. I am particularly aware of the deep connection between emotions, the body, the nervous system, and our sense of safety in the world. I believe each person is unique, and what works for one may not work for another. Most of my work is centered around face-to-face talking therapy.
Counselling is often the beginning of a process that can take time. Some people work through their issues and find resolution relatively quickly, while others find the journey takes longer — the pace is as individual as you are. I have worked with clients of all genders, aged 18–65, and am based in central Cambridge, where I see clients Tuesday to Thursday.
You may have questions, and the best way to know if I’m the right therapist for you is to meet. We can start with a short, free exploratory phone call, without any obligation to continue. From there, we can arrange a first session. If you decide to continue, and I have availability that suits your schedule, we would agree on a regular weekly slot that is yours for the duration of therapy.
Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place once a week at the same time. I have a written contract that outlines fees, timings, holidays, and cancellation terms, all of which we can discuss in our first session. You’re welcome to include any questions in your initial email.
Hello, and welcome. I work in central Cambridge, offering both short and long-term counselling.
My name is Claire and I'm an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor which means that I have been trained, and have experience in, a variety of theoretical approaches which helps me to tailor the work we do to your needs.
I understand how difficult it can be to make the first steps towards counselling, and finding the right person for you is very important. It can feel daunting and building a strong trusted relationship is essential - you are the priority.
People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons - low mood, life events, perhaps we are struggling within our relationships, maybe we don't really know who we are, or have spent much of our life meeting the needs of others and neglecting ourselves. Together we can explore your thoughts and feelings, perhaps gaining some renewed clarity. What hurts or what matters most to you leads the way.
I am an accredited member of both UKCP and BACP, working to their ethical and professional standards is an integral part of my practice.
I spent over a decade working and travelling in the footwear industry, and as such understand the impact of competing personal and professional demands for both the individual and their families.
I have experience working with neurodivergence; the impact of diagnosis for both the individual and those surrounding them.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
