My Approach

My core training is in Transactional Analysis (TA), a therapeutic approach that helps us understand how we relate to ourselves and others. TA offers powerful tools for exploring patterns that may have developed early in life and are still influencing how we think, feel, and behave today. Together, we can gently look at these patterns, understand where they come from, and explore new ways of responding that feel more authentic and freeing.

My work is relational and collaborative, I believe therapy is most effective when it’s based on mutual trust, respect, and a sense of working together. I aim to create a space where you feel safe to be yourself, speak openly, and explore whatever is important to you, without fear of judgment.

Although TA is at the heart of my approach, I also draw on other therapeutic models depending on your needs — including psychodynamic thinking, developmental theory, and creative or play-based approaches (especially when working with children and young people). Therapy with me is always tailored to suit the individual, whether that’s a child, teenager, or adult.

Whether you’re coming to therapy for the first time, or returning after a break, I’ll meet you where you are, and we’ll go at a pace that feels right for you.

About Me

Hello, and welcome. I'm a qualified Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist and Adult Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, and I offer a calm, supportive space where you or your child can feel safe, listened to, and understood.

Life can feel overwhelming at times, and it's not always easy to make sense of how we’re feeling or why certain patterns keep showing up. I’m here to help explore those feelings gently and at your own pace. Whether you're looking for support with anxiety, low mood, relationships, self-esteem, or simply need space to talk, I offer a compassionate and confidential environment where change can begin.

I work with children, teenagers, and adults, and tailor therapy to suit each person's unique needs. My approach is warm, relational, and grounded in empathy and trust at the heart of my work is the belief that therapy can be a place not only for healing, but also for rediscovering strength, hope, and clarity.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Anxiety can show up in many different ways, as racing thoughts, physical tension, constant worry, or a sense of overwhelm that’s hard to shake. Whether it’s generalised anxiety, panic attacks, social anxiety, or anxiety linked to specific situations or past experiences, I offer a calm, supportive space to explore what’s going on underneath. Using my core approach of Transactional Analysis, we can gently explore the patterns, beliefs, or past experiences that may be contributing to your anxiety. Together, we’ll look at how these patterns developed and find ways to shift them, creating more space for choice, calm, and self-compassion. Alongside insight and reflection, I also offer grounding techniques and practical strategies to help manage anxiety in the moment. The work is always at your pace, and we’ll build the tools and confidence to navigate anxiety in everyday life, not by avoiding it, but by understanding it and responding to it in new, healthier ways.
Grief can be one of the most painful and confusing experiences we go through. Whether the loss is recent or happened some time ago, it can affect us in many ways, emotionally, physically, and in our relationships. There’s no “right” way to grieve, and no fixed timeline. I offer a gentle, supportive space where you can express your feelings freely, at your own pace, without judgment or pressure to “move on.” In my work with bereavement, I draw on Transactional Analysis to help explore not only the emotional pain of loss, but also the relationship you had with the person who died and what their absence means in your life now. This can include working with unresolved feelings, guilt, anger, numbness, or even relief, all of which are natural parts of grief. For children and young people, grief can be especially confusing, and I offer developmentally appropriate ways to help them process loss, including creative, play-based, or symbolic ways of expressing what can feel too big or too hard to put into words. Grief is not something to be “fixed,” but with support, it can become something that is carried with more ease, and gradually integrated into a person’s life in a way that feels meaningful and manageable.
Depression can feel overwhelming as though you’re carrying a heavy weight, or like everything has lost its colour and meaning. It can affect every part of life: your energy, your relationships, your work, and how you see yourself. Whether you’re experiencing low mood, hopelessness, feelings of emptiness, or difficulty finding joy in everyday things, I’m here to support you through it. Using Transactional Analysis (TA), we’ll explore the thoughts, patterns, and behaviours that may be contributing to the depression, as well as the underlying emotional experiences that may be shaping how you feel. This approach helps to identify where these patterns began, often in early life or past experiences, and supports shifting negative thought cycles that keep you stuck. Together, we’ll work to rebuild a sense of meaning and connection in your life. This may involve exploring feelings of self-worth, breaking free from perfectionism or self-criticism, and building new, healthier ways of thinking and relating to yourself. We’ll work at your pace, starting with the small steps that can make a big difference. I offer a safe, non-judgmental space where you can be open about how you’re feeling, without fear of being rushed or misunderstood. My aim is to help you regain a sense of agency and hope, so you can begin to reconnect with yourself and the things that matter to you.
Stress is something we all experience from time to time, but when it becomes overwhelming, it can take a real toll on our mental and physical health. Whether you're juggling work, family, or personal challenges, chronic stress can leave you feeling drained, anxious, or unable to cope. In therapy, I offer a supportive space where we can explore the underlying causes of your stress and develop strategies to manage it in a healthy way. Using Transactional Analysis (TA), we can look at how stress might be linked to unhelpful thought patterns or past experiences, such as perfectionism, people-pleasing, or overthinking. By identifying these patterns, we can work together to shift them, so you can respond to stress in a more balanced and mindful way. I also provide practical tools to help manage stress on a day-to-day basis, such as relaxation techniques, mindfulness practices, and time management strategies. These tools, combined with a deeper understanding of your stress triggers, can help you build resilience, feel more grounded, and regain a sense of control in your life. Stress doesn’t have to feel like something you have to just “push through.” In therapy, we’ll work to reduce its impact, creating a more peaceful and manageable experience of life.
Trauma can deeply impact how we view ourselves, others, and the world around us. Whether the trauma is from a single event or ongoing experiences, it can leave us feeling disconnected, unsafe, or stuck in patterns that are difficult to break. I understand that trauma affects each person uniquely, and I offer a safe, non-judgmental space to explore your experiences at your own pace. Using Transactional Analysis (TA), we can explore how trauma may have shaped your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Often, traumatic experiences create unconscious patterns that influence how we relate to ourselves and others, which can be particularly powerful in shaping our sense of self-worth, trust, and safety. Together, we’ll work to understand these patterns and gently unravel the impact they’ve had, allowing for healing and new ways of relating to yourself and others. Healing from trauma isn’t a linear process, and I provide tools to help you manage distressing memories or flashbacks as they arise, helping you to feel more grounded in the present moment. This may include grounding techniques, mindfulness practices, and emotional regulation tools. Over time, we’ll work to reframe the way you relate to your traumatic experiences, empowering you to regain control, find a sense of peace, and begin to rebuild your sense of safety and identity. Trauma healing can take time, and it’s important that you feel supported throughout the journey. My approach is collaborative, and we’ll work at a pace that feels right for you, ensuring you feel empowered and safe every step of the way.
