I am an Integrative Psychotherapist/supervisor/groupwork facilitator and I draw on humanistic and psychodynamic theories as well as infant/child developmental studies and neuroscience. The integration is around working with the unique individual to help them flourish into their most authentic self.
Hello. I work from my office which is connected to my home premises, as a developmentally based, relationally focused integrative psychotherapist, supervisor and group facilitator. I work face to face or online, with individuals, couples and groups.
My main specialism is working with people who have had difficult experiences during infancy and childhood which continue to affect how the individual feels and how they relate to others and the world in general. As relational beings we often need help from a wise, containing and contained human being, something we may not have experienced or experienced in short supply. In our work together I will help and support you to explore how to compassionately connect with yourself, even though this process may be profoundly uncomfortable. I will help and support you to see how these wounds still impact how you react to others and the world in general. Through our work you will find the guidance and support to begin making choices that feel more authentic and satisfying. I keep a clear focus on whatever needs to be tackled to help you create personal recovery and growth. I picture this therapeutic process as growing more in maturity as an adult whilst also learning to recognise, accept and prize our wounded inner child whilst also liberating our eternal inner child. I picture our eternal inner child as that part of us that is uniquely 'me' and like a child, full of curiosity, wonder, spontaneity and life. My approach is mainly as a 'talking therapist' but when I think we need to use a more embodied or creative approach I will naturally offer this.
I work as a therapist with counselling / psychotherapy students in training and run CPD training workshops for therapists on the 'inner child' and 'shame'. I also work as an individual and group supervisor for counselling and psychotherapy clinicians as well as with people working pastorally.
I have an undergraduate degree in philosophy and theology and a postgraduate in Christian Doctrine. I was a Carmelite novice for a few years. I am now married, with two grown-up children. I like running and yoga, both of which remain central to my own recovery journey. I work with people of faith, no-faith and profound existential insecuirty!
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
