Finding a therapist can feel daunting. It’s essential that you feel secure and accepted without judgment.
Therapy is an investment in yourself and it involves a significant commitment – financial and emotional.
Rather than a ‘quick fix’, it’s an opportunity to explore sometimes difficult experiences and emotions, leading to a deeper understanding of how you got here and how you might choose to live more authentically in the future.
I hope learning a little about me and how I work will help you decide if we might be a good fit.
Since everyone has their own story, there’s no template for how to be a person.
You may have come across a wide variety of different therapies – psychoanalytic, psychodynamic, person-centred, CBT, EMDR and many more.
I describe my way of working as ‘integrative’ - this simply means that I make use of a number of theoretical approaches, rather than one overarching idea.
My aim is to turn down the volume on others’ opinions and allow you to hear your own voice, perhaps for the first time. I will encourage you to experiment in your life, using your insights and growing awareness between meetings, returning for reflection and support.
The basis of our work will be a relationship
Within a framework of warmth and acceptance, you will have an opportunity to explore your potential for flexibility and change
Our ‘therapeutic relationship’ enables an exploration of how early relationships have influenced your sense of self and your expectations of yourself and others.
