My Approach

I work in a relational person centred way: I believe that you already have many of the resources you need to heal within you, and I aim to hold a space where you feel safe, affirmed, and heard. I don’t set homework or push topics—you bring what feels important, and I support you to explore it at your pace. I offer clients authentic warmth, empathy, and a sense of being truly heard and understood. Our sessions will be about you: exploring what matters most, what’s causing pain or tension, and where you want to move toward.
My practice is trauma informed: I understand how past and present trauma (including relational, interpersonal, coercive, or abuse based trauma) shape how we feel, think, and relate. I offer a space to attend to what feels unsafe or difficult, with gentleness, respect, and a commitment to your autonomy.
As an autistic therapist, my work is neurodiversity affirming, anti oppressive, anti racist, and body positive. I aim to offer an environment that honours whatever identity, sensory needs, or ways of being you bring into the room.

About Me

Hi, I’m Carolyn, a psychotherapist working with individual adults and couples both in person in Milton Keynes and online. My journey into this work began after experiencing person centred counselling myself in my twenties, which I found life¬ changing. Since then I’ve been deeply committed to accompanying others through their own journeys of healing and growth.
I see therapy as a collaborative, relational process rooted in authenticity, respect, and justice. In our sessions you won’t meet a distant or anonymous therapist, I bring my full self: warm, genuine, grounded, and sometimes even delightfully sweary. I believe that every emotion matters, anger, grief, joy, anxiety, and all of them are welcome.
I am autistic, and I bring the insight and lived experience this gives into my therapy. My work is grounded in person centred, trauma informed care. I believe that everyone has the capacity to grow, heal, and change, given the right support in a safe, non judgemental space.
My way of working is trauma informed, anti oppressive, and inclusive. I especially welcome neurodivergent clients (autistic, ADHD, AuDHD, or otherwise neurodivergent), understanding both the challenges of masking and the strength in being seen. I also have experience supporting those impacted by abuse, neglect, coercive control, and relational trauma, and I greatly value creating safety, validation, and agency in our work together.
I first qualified as a counsellor with a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in 2021, continuing my training to MSc level which I achieved in 2025. I’m continually learning, and reflecting as I’m a curious person.
I offer weekly, 50-minute sessions, either face to face from my calm, comfortable room in Bletchley or via Zoom. I offer open-ended psychotherapy so you can choose to come for as long as you want. I also offer a free 30 minute introductory Zoom session so that you can ask questions, get a sense of whether I might be a good fit, and explore how we might approach psychotherapy together.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have experience working with people who’ve been affected by emotional, physical, and sexual abuse, including coercive control. Abuse can fracture your sense of self and trust both in others as well as in your self. In therapy, I support you to reclaim your voice, rebuild safety, and honour the coping strategies that helped you survive. I work at your pace, holding space for grief, anger, confusion, or numbness; whatever comes, without pressure or judgment.
I have a deep interest in supporting ADHD and AuDHD clients, and in understanding the unique ways that attention, energy, and emotion show up for you. I recognise the challenges of executive dysfunction, rejection sensitivity, time-blindness, and the internalised shame that can come from years of being told you're "too much" or "not enough". I work to create a therapeutic space that meets you with flexibility, validation, and genuine curiosity, where your rhythms and needs don’t have to be hidden or apologised for.
As an autistic therapist, I have both personal and professional insight into autistic experiences. I understand the impact of masking, sensory overwhelm, social exhaustion, and the frustration of being misunderstood in a world that often expects you to fit in, rather than belong. In therapy, I aim to create a space where you don’t have to explain or justify your way of being, where stimming, silence, and tangents, are all very welcome. Together we can explore identity, burnout, late diagnosis, or anything else that feels important, at your own pace and in your own way.
I work in a trauma-informed way, always mindful of how past experiences, especially those involving threat, powerlessness, or chronic stress, can continue to shape your life in many ways. Whether your trauma stems from childhood, systemic oppression, domestic abuse, or more recent experiences, I aim to offer a space of safety and choice. I don't pathologise trauma responses; I see them as signs of resilience, and together we can gently make sense of them, without rushing or re-traumatising.
