Family and systemic psychotherapy.
I am patient centred, and match my systemic approach to the needs of each family. My hope is that as I support families to talk together they will utilise their expertise to find new knowledge and ways forward.
I work collaboratively with family members to understand the concerns they have and set goals for the changes they want to work towards. I share my thinking with families in order to be transparent and to check my understanding.
Building a trusting therapeutic alliance is core to my work. I am a compassionate, hopeful and collaborative clinician.
I work to provide a setting that feels safe enough for families to be open with each other, to create a listening space in which family members can explore new ways of relating in order to bring forth desired change. I work in a strengths based way supporting families to rediscover and utilise their own skills to find solutions.
I use creative and action based approaches where these are felt useful to families.
I am a family and systemic psychotherapist and systemic supervisor.
I have worked for 30yrs in the NHS within Child & Adolescent mental health and eating disorders services, both community and inpatient. I have worked as family therapist clinically and as manager and Deputy Clinical Lead.
I am now working in independent practice with families, parents, siblings and people in relationships. I also work with individuals using a systemic lens.
I particularly enjoy working with people who are gender, sexuality or relationship diverse.
I work as a clinical systemic supervisor and as a trainer in systemic work and CYP eating disorders.
My original professional training was as a paediatric nurse.
