My Approach

Most people meet with me as they want to make useful changes to their relationships. My work centres the strengths and challenges you're facing and the context of culture, age, gender, race and trans-generational experiences. I enjoy supporting people to develop self-compassion and to find their agency and power in the face of interpersonal and social challenges. I believe both that relationships can contribute to problems, and that relationships can support us to overcome problems too.

In family therapy, it is common to work as part of a clinic with multiple therapists in the room at once. The benefit of this is to have multiple ears and eyes and different perspectives. I offer this option as well as practising alone.

About Me

I have spent the past decade working therapeutically across children and adult services in NHS mental health services and in third sector organisations. I have a particular interest in amplifying stories of resistance working people impacted by violence, abuse and discrimination. I am queer and this has shaped the different ways in which I understand a broad definition of family work - I welcome working with individuals, couples (monogamous and non-monogamous), families, friends and organsations. Having been brought up in a multi-cultural household has also sharpened my senses to the difficulties of connecting across difference.

As well as being a systemic psychotherapist, I am trained in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Emotion Focused Couple Therapy and two trauma interventions, Narrative Exposure Therapy and Children's Accelerated Trauma Technique.

My professional experience has included working in NHS services specialising in: refugee experiences including survivors of torture; psychosis; anxiety; crisis; perinatal and postnatal difficulties; children's mental health and neurodevelopmental challenges.
