My Approach

I work as a systemic family therapist. I integrate concepts from other schools of therapy, for example psychodynamic psychotherapy, where they appear to fit the persons I am working with. As a Children's Guardian I have worked with parents and children whose cases are before the court, I am able to work with separating couples and separated couples to offer therapeutic work where the court process stops short. I also have experience in working with grandmothers, aunts, uncles who look after another family member's child, for example special guardians. I offer therapeutic trauma work with children and estranged family members.
I am also trained in working with families affected by another family member's drug use.

About Me

I am a systemic family therapist who qualified in 2022. I am of German origin. I have a background in Children and Families Social Work. I have always been passionate about understanding others and myself in the context of our families and wider systems. I trained as a counsellor, and I have done trainings in applying creative methods to working with people, for example art therapy. I have worked in a wide range of professions but always return to supporting others to change and develop. It makes sense that one person alone will find it difficult to change when the systems they are embedded in do not also change. Trainings in systemic family therapy have taught me specific techniques for working with more than one person. This could be a couple, a family, part of a family, friends or colleagues.
In my free time I enjoy hiking, good food, gardening, music, art and literature. I have a 21 year old son.

I work with

  • Children and young people
  • Couples
  • Families
  • Individuals
  • Private healthcare referrals

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I am able to help family members who are affected by another family member's substance use with teaching them the CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training). This approach has been brought to the UK by George Charlton. CRAFT emphasises loving communication that increases the likelihood of sustained change, whilst also taking care of oneself.
I work with couples who may feel they are repeating the same patterns in relationships and hurt one another without wanting to. I support couples in re-building connection and true intimacy, and in gaining clarity, whether this means staying together or separating. I also help couples therapeutically during or after family court proceedings.
I work with individuals or with former partners to help them process their separation, and to heal from the trauma from separating or the trauma from the relationship to help them move on. Where there are children, I can support former partners to work together to minimise the suffering for children from separating and help them make the most of a new life spread across two households. I also support parents and adult children with processing the impact from divorce where it has led to a break in contact.
I have a lot of experience of working with victims and perpetrators of domestic abuse. I can help individuals process the trauma of domestic violence. I also work with individuals who want to work on their patterns of controlling or coercing their partner, whether they identify this constitutes domestic abuse or not.
I work with parents who want to improve the way they relate to their children or who struggle with their experience of their children at any point in their parenting journey.
