My Approach

Biodynamic body psychotherapy combines bodywork and psychotherapy and can include Biodynamic massage. We believe that body, mind and spirit are intertwined and that including the body in psychotherapy supports the experience of connection to ourselves and others. Painful feelings are often buried and held in our body, as well as feelings of love and joy. Tuning into and listening to the messages from our body brings us into the here and now, from where we can experience a sense of aliveness and authenticity. Psychotherapy, in general, facilitates and enables a deeper understanding and coming to terms with past and present events and feelings. Biodynamic body psychotherapy aims to do the same. However, in addition, it also pays attention to the physical 'digestion' of these experiences. As well as an increased mental clarity and lightness, we are looking for an increased physical sense of fluidity and aliveness, which may or may not include a spiritual dimension. We believe that an 'embodied' life is a life more fully lived. This is an ongoing process.

Psychotherapy sessions can vary. What we focus on in a session depends on your need. We may look at how we relate as a way of understanding relationships in your past and present life. Some sessions may include massage. Most sessions will include some form of 'tuning into' what is happening in your body. Sessions are usually once a week for 75 min, as it may include massage. Treatment can be short term or long term. As well as seeing psychotherapy clients in my private practice, I am also a trainer and UKCP registered supervisor.

About Me

I am originally from the Netherlands and came to London in 1985 to study Biodynamic Psychotherapy with Gerda Boyesen, the founder of this work. I have remained in London and have a family with now grown up kids. I work in private practice as a Biodynamic body psychotherapist. I have over 35 years experience. I am a trainer with the London School of Biodynamic Psychotherapy and I am on the training board and a UKCP accredited supervisor. I have qualified as a Biodynamic Cranial Sacral therapist and completed a training for Couple therapy from a Body psychotherapy perspective. However, my main focus remains Biodynamic Psychotherapy, Biodynamic Massage, supervision and teaching.
