My Approach

My approach is relational, which means I see therapy as something we create together through conversation, reflection and trust over time. I believe many of the ways we cope and relate to others develop from our earlier experiences and relationships, and therapy helps bring greater understanding and choice around these patterns.

I work in the 'here and now' to help you get to know and understand yourself and your patterns, and support you to find new, more creative and satisfying ways of relating.

I offer a free consultation where we can explore what brings you to therapy, what you are hoping for, and whether working together feels like a good fit.

About Me

I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist working with individuals, couples and groups online via Zoom and in person in Totnes, South Devon. My approach is grounded in curiosity, honesty, compassion and appropriate challenge.

I specialise in helping people understand the relational patterns and emotional dynamics that may be keeping them stuck. My work is informed by attachment, developmental and psychodynamic theories and an interest in the deeper unconscious processes that shape how we relate to ourselves and others.

I aim to help clients understand their own way of seeing and responding to the world, and to recognise their patterns without judgement or blame, so they can begin to develop more exciting, authentic and connected ways of living.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Anxiety, overwhelm and stress are increasingly difficult to manage in the pace and pressure of modern life. I specialise in exploring both present-day pressures and the deeper emotional patterns that sit underneath these experiences.
I have additional training in couples therapy and specialise in working with couples experiencing conflict, loss of intimacy and connection and difficult life transitions. I help couples understand the patterns and dynamics between them and move towards a more honest, connected and constructive relationship.
I support clients experiencing a wide range of mental health difficulties. My focus, alongside initial symptom relief, is helping clients find out what lies beneath the symptoms, exploring the emotional and relational patterns underpinning your distress so that patterns can be understood and shifted rather than only managed.
As a relational therapist, I am particularly interested in how our early and ongoing relationships shape the ways we experience ourselves and others. I can draw on many different models and theories to help us understand your own particular relational templates and patterns and together we can experiment with more creative and fulfilling ways of relating.
I am a Certified Trauma therapist and have additional training in working with developmental, childhood and relational trauma. I work sensitively with the impact trauma can have on the body, emotions, self-worth, identity and relationships, helping clients build greater safety, understanding and resilience.
