My Approach

My approach is psychodynamic. I am interested in the relationships individuals create with one another and the difficult patterns that often persist throughout our lives. Mental health issues are often connected to these matters and take time to work through. I am keen to accompany individuals, couples or family groupings on these journeys for greater self-discovery and change. I am very proactive and am committed to inquiry.

About Me

I am a psychoanalytically trained psychotherapist (Guild Trained) and have worked in the field for over three decades.I am currently in private practice in Cambridge but also work online with a number of people from London and various other parts of the country. I have headed up university counselling services, working with students and academics; psychiatric services in hospitals and GP services. I work short term or long term with individuals wishing to reflect on difficult challenges in life, working towards change and resolution. I also work with couples.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

We all go through various age related milestones and transitions and I often help individuals navigate their way through these issues.
I often work with people in a variety of settings coping with anxiety
Couples often seek psychological support when they experience difficulties to help them find a way through. I have worked with couples for many years.
I have worked over the decades with many mental health issues and major life changes such as adolescence, divorce, motherhood, and bereavement. I work extensively with academics, students and doctors who may face ongoing work related challenges , as well as personal ones, that can have a profound impact on mental health.
I enjoy supervising trainees and working with them, as I regard this relationship as an important foundationstone for their future.
