I work psychodynamically, with a focus on understanding the patterns that tend to repeat in your relationships and emotional life. Rather than concentrating only on what is happening in the present, we look at how your ways of relating have developed over time, and how they continue to shape your experiences now.
Often, people come to therapy with a sense that something keeps going wrong in similar ways, whether that is overthinking, feeling rejected, or pulling back when things begin to matter. In our work, we take time to understand this pattern in depth, including how it may show up between us. This can feel exposing at times, but it is also where change becomes possible.
My approach is active and thoughtful. I will offer reflections and help you make links, rather than remaining silent or distant, but I will not offer quick fixes or simple advice. The aim is to develop a clearer understanding of your experience, so that over time you can respond differently in your relationships and in how you relate to yourself.
I offer both time-limited and open-ended therapy. Where appropriate, I may draw on structured approaches such as Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) to bring focus to the work.
I am a UKCP-registered psychodynamic psychotherapist specialising in relational difficulties. I have worked as a high-intensity therapist in NHS Talking Therapies services, supporting people with depression and anxiety who feel stuck in repeating emotional and interpersonal patterns.
I am trained in Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) through specialist postgraduate training with the Anna Freud Centre and University of Roehampton. I also hold an MSc in Psychology (with Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling Psychology from the University of London.
My work centres on identifying and understanding recurring patterns in how you relate to others and how this shapes your emotional experience. I take an active and thoughtful approach, helping you make links and reflect on what emerges both in your relationships and within the therapy itself. I do not offer quick fixes, but aim to support a deeper shift in how you understand and respond to yourself and others.
I often work with people who are thoughtful and self-aware, but find themselves caught in familiar relational difficulties, such as overthinking, sensitivity to rejection, or a tension between wanting closeness and protecting themselves. Many have insight into their experiences, but find that this has not yet led to change.
I offer both time-limited and open-ended therapy, depending on your needs.
If you are considering therapy, you are welcome to get in touch to arrange an initial conversation.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
