Family and Systemic Psychotherapy is an effective therapeutic approach for individuals, couples, and families experiencing distress within their relationships or wider systems. This therapy offers a supportive space to explore patterns of communication, relationships, and the emotional impact of lived experiences. My focus is to support people to communicate more openly, strengthen understanding, support to repair relationships, and navigate complexities together or individually.
This approach recognises that our experiences are shaped within the contexts of family, relationships, culture, and wider systems. Creating a safe, thoughtful, and collaborative atmosphere can help people feel heard, develop new perspectives, and find more helpful ways of relating to themselves and each other.
My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and reflective. I draw from a range of psychological and systemic ideas, including different schools of Family and Systemic Therapy, tailoring the work to the unique needs, strengths, and goals of those I work with.
I am a qualified Family and Systemic Psychotherapist with over 20 years’ experience working across the NHS and Local Authority services. My experience includes work within adult mental health, hospital and community settings, and with multidisciplinary teams. I continue to work within NHS Mental Health Services.
I am a member of the Institute of Family Therapy and work within the professional and ethical guidelines of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
I work with individuals and couples. Many people experience difficulties within relationships or periods where they feel stuck in unhelpful patterns, disconnected from their values, or overwhelmed by life’s challenges. Therapy can provide an opportunity to pause, reflect, and develop greater understanding of these patterns, while building strategies and coping skills that support meaningful and sustainable change.
Sessions are available in person or online.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
