It is normal to experience stages in life where it seems to make no sense, perhaps events feel overwhelming and life seems difficult to navigate. Alternatively, relationships may be problematic or recurrent patterns of behaviour are negatively affecting everyday life. People find their way to therapy for many different reasons and it takes courage to make that decision. However, one commonality is how an increase in self-awareness can allow us to make more sense of difficult and/or recurrent feelings and events, difficult relationships or feelings of depression/anxiety often linking the past and the present. I offer a safe and confidential space where we can explore these thoughts and feelings collaboratively together hopefully leading to positive change.
I offer open ended therapy and time-limited therapy (12 sessions). I am also an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Therapy) therapist and have a particular interest in working with trauma. As well as working in private practice I have also worked for a number of years for the baby loss charity Petals where I provided therapy to individuals and couples who have suffered baby loss in its many forms.
We would meet for an initial consultation to discuss what has bought you to therapy now, what your expectations are, and to consider the best way forward. There is no obligation at this stage to proceed and it is an opportunity for you to see how you feel in the setting. All enquiries are strictly confidential and no GP referral is necessary. If we decided to proceed we would discuss a fee and would aim to meet once weekly at the same time each week for a 50 minute session.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
