My Approach

Integrative; systemic; collaborative

About Me

I am a psychotherapist with a Master's degree in Systemic Psychotherapy, a diploma in Person-Centred Counselling and a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics. I have been working as a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist in Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) for the past 10 years. I was a part-time lecturer in systemic therapy at the University of Exeter for a year and I have previous careers in counselling (Relate, schools, including special schools, and private practice) and in teaching French and Spanish as foreign languages in universities and language centres in England and Mexico.

I have worked with people with a diagnosis of ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) for the past 29 years, providing neurodevelopmental assessments and various therapies.

I work mainly in English and French, and can incorporate some Spanish.

I am passionate about what it means to be human. I also love dogs, nature and dancing.

I work with

  • Children and young people
  • Companies
  • Couples
  • Families
  • Groups
  • Individuals
  • Private healthcare referrals

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have 29 years experience of working with children and adults with autism, doing neurodevelopmental assessments and providing various therapies - behavioural, person-centred and systemic, working with individuals and families. I see autism as a neurological difference, which can be a disability for some but not for others. I am keen to help people on the spectrum understand their autism and make friends with it, incorporating it into their identity in ways that work for them, and to help them identify and make the most of their strengths. I am experienced at helping families come to terms with autism in their family and support each other in ways that suit them.
I have worked extensively with couple issues as part of family therapy and have noticed how often co-parenting or couple relational issues affect the whole family. I believe the couple is the bedrock of the family. I am also interested in working with couples without children to explore any relational issues, using all contextual levels (individual, relational, familial, community, society, culture, gender, ethnicity, etc.)
I am interested in all kinds of relationship issues, be they in couples, parents/children, siblings, families, friends, colleagues, companies or communities.
I am a UKCP accredited supervisor with over 8 years experience of providing (live and retrospective) systemic supervision in CAMHS, with individuals and within family therapy clinics. I am keen to offer supervision privately.
Training has been a significant part of my role as a senior family and systemic psychotherapist in CAMHS, as well as in my lecturer post at the University of Exeter. I am experienced in designing and delivering systemic therapy courses. I enjoy teaching very much.
