My Approach

The therapy I provide draws from both psychoanalytic psychotherapy and dramatherapy. Both are concerned and utilise the unconscious, that is our drives, desires, childhood/early experiences and social factors, which, though we may not be conscious of, can often determine our thoughts, feelings and behaviour and contribute to problems and difficulties we may be experiencing today.

It can be helpful to consider your past experiences, primarily through talking but also through other means, such as dreams, free association, images, bodily movements and art. We may also consider the influence of social factors, identity and relationships too, such as one's relationship to gender, race and sexuality.

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy is also concerned with the relationship between patient and therapist too, which can often provide insights into the patient's difficulties in a more direct 'in the present' sense

About Me

I'm a UKCP & HCPC registered psychoanalytic psychotherapist and dramatherapist with over 17 years experience working in organisations, including the NHS and in private practice. My work is grounded in psychoanalysis, philosophy and artistic practices to provide an expansive and creative approach to working with difficulties, to foster new growth and change.

I am a member of The Philadelphia Association which has a long radical history of challenging both the theory and practice of psychotherapy and psychiatry, which informs my work. I have published articles in the field of mental health and philosophy. I also work as an Associate Lecturer with The Open University.

I provide therapy in-person in Hampstead, North London and I see patients online too. I work with adults, adolescents, couples, families and groups on either long or short term basis. Sessions can be provided weekly or more regularly based on your needs. I provide the use of a couch to aid reflection and depth.

In the first instance, we would meet for an initial consultation to discuss what brings you to therapy.
