My Approach

Helping individuals and couples achieve meaningful change.

You're exhausted from the repeated conflicts, tired of feeling unheard, and drained from showing others you’re fine on the outside, while inside you feel very different.

You yearn for more closeness, more connection, and greater trust in yourself and others. You want something to shift, not just on the surface, but in a way that feels real and lasting, but you don’t know where to start.

Therapy with me is a conversation, and you don’t need to start with all the answers. Together, we figure out what's not working, where you want to be, and how to get you there. We meet weekly and build a relationship that becomes the foundation for change.

Everyone is unique; I don’t offer step-by-step plans or manualised therapy such as CBT. Instead, we explore the patterns, beliefs, and emotional rules that quietly shape how you live and relate.

About Me

As a gay man, I understand what it means to navigate belonging and identity, to adapt in ways that help you fit in, but sometimes cost you a sense of who you are. I welcome clients from all backgrounds and identities. What matters most is that you feel understood.

Before training as a psychotherapist, I worked in the corporate world and spent over a decade in the arts as an acting coach. Both experiences taught me about performance, pressure, expectation, and about what people show and what they hide.

Qualifications:
Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy, psychodynamic theory, and attachment-informed perspectives, are the main theoretical models I draw on, but I don’t work from a manual. Therapy is not a script. It’s a process of discovering what makes sense for you.

MSc Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy (Metanoia Institute)
Certified Transactional Analyst (CTA) (EATA)
Advanced Certificate in Relationship Therapy

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Anxiety can leave you feeling trapped in cycles of overthinking, self-doubt, and hypervigilance, and even be incapacitating. Together, we explore not just the symptoms of anxiety and how you are affected by them, but also the underlying patterns that keep the feelings of anxiety going. Rather than working to manage anxiety away, I work with clients to understand what the feelings of anxiety might be communicating, which parts of their life might not be in alignment, and what might need to change. Therapy provides a space to understand the fears, beliefs, and relationship dynamics that may be driving your anxiety, helping you develop a calmer, more compassionate relationship with yourself and others.
Helping couples improve communication and move beyond unhealthy conflict. Your conversations are stuck, tensions are building, and closeness is being eroded. You feel frustrated, unheard, and confused. This tension might flare up quickly and erupt into arguments, or simmer away in extended punishing silences. You long to reconnect with what brought you together in the first place, and to build something even more meaningful. Couples therapy is a place to pause and make sense of what is happening between you. Whether you are navigating issues around sex, intimacy, communication, trust, conflict, jealousy, open relationships, or simply a sense of growing apart, therapy helps to uncover what is really going on underneath those struggles. Our work will look at the deeper emotional patterns and protective strategies that may be keeping you disconnected. How trust has been broken and how it can be rebuilt. We will explore how you communicate, how you respond when you are hurting, and what you each need to feel emotionally safe and understood, as well as exploring some of the needs you may not be able to put words yet.
Much of my work is with gay and queer men. Being part of a minority group shapes how we move through the world; we have a different experience of both formal rights and informal social privileges impacting how we love, how we connect, and how we experience safety and belonging. LGBTQ+ individuals and relationships often face pressures that heterosexual, cisgender people do not encounter. Whether it’s dealing with internalised shame, family rejection, social invisibility or hostility, or navigating complex relationship dynamics, these stressors can have a significant impact on how we relate. Queer and gay relationships are not fully reflected in society. It is difficult to become what we can’t see, making it harder to navigate dilemmas and conflict, such as negotiating open relationships or chosen family structures, to facing discrimination and trauma, these realities can influence how we relate to ourselves and to each other.
Stress can leave you feeling overwhelmed, depleted, and constantly under pressure. You may find yourself exhausted and unable to sleep, struggling to switch off, carrying the weight of responsibility for everyone else, or feeling as though you're always one step behind. The work of psychotherapy is to explore the factors contributing to your stress, including the expectations you place on yourself, your relationships, and the demands of everyday life, and, importantly, the early relational patterns you learnt that may be contributing to how you see your role in life. By understanding these patterns, we can begin to explore healthier ways for you to respond to pressure, create more balance, resilience, and space for what matters most to you.
