My approach is Interpersonal and Intersubjective, informed by Relational Psychoanalysis and Jungian Depth Psychology, meaning I look beyond immediate symptoms to understand the unconscious processes and relationship patterns that shape your world. I am particularly interested in 'quarterlife' and 'midlife' transitions-times often marked by anxiety or confusion, but which I view as a vital invitation to discover a more authentic, 'whole' self. I am skilled in hearing and containing the tension between the external expectations of career and family life, and the internal demand of the deeper self to be seen and heard. I am particularly interested in how dreams, symbols and daydreams offer metaphor and imagery that can connect us to deeper unconscious process as well as how the 'here and now' of our therapeutic relationship can act as 'crucible' where old patterns and new awareness mingle.
I work in a trauma-informed way that is both safe and soulful. Whether you are feeling 'blocked' in your creativity, struggling with recurring relationship issues, or carrying the weight of unspoken burdens, my goal is not just to 'fix' what is broken, but to help you move from surviving to thriving-integrating the different parts of your story and the different parts of 'you' into a more resilient whole.
Before qualification, I spent nearly 20 years working in the NHS supplying emotional support and spiritual care. This background has given me a deep capacity to sit with grief, existential crisis, and the search for meaning. I bring this experience into the clinical space to help clients navigate their own histories but also to connect to the yearning for vitality and connection. I work from my quiet home office in residential North Leeds.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
