My approach is first and foremost relational. I work to build a safe, trusting connection where you can reflect, explore, and grow — perhaps this time in the way you wish to.
We are unavoidably shaped in part, by our early relationships — with others, with our environment, and eventually with ourselves. These experiences influence how we see the world, how we relate, and what we expect. Therapy offers a space to become more aware of these patterns, and to begin to experience something new.
As an integrative psychotherapist, I draw on a range of evidence-based approaches to respond to your unique experience. Each theory brings something of value, but no single model explains the full complexity of what it is to be human. My view of Integration means blending what’s useful in a way that fits you. I often think of it like baking: each ingredient matters, but it’s the balance — sometimes adding, sometimes leaving out — that creates something nourishing and true to your taste.
We are not just thinking beings, but sensing, feeling, embodied ones. My work brings attention to integrating the whole of your experience — including what may show up in the body, in relationship, or beneath words. Together, we can gently notice what might be getting in your way, and support you in feeling more present, more whole, and more connected to the life you wish to live.
Hello, my name is Adam, and I am a fully qualified, registered and accredited psychotherapeutic counsellor and psychotherapist. My main practice is in the Jewellery Quarter of Birmingham, and I also work in the centre of Shrewsbury. Both locations being accessible, have easy parking and access to public transport. I work with individual adults in both short-term and open-ended therapy. Please do visit my website, where you’ll find more information about my practice, approach, and a host of resources and links.
I’ve played a variety of professional roles in my life, and running through all of them is one key thread: relationship. I am passionate about psychotherapy, and I believe deeply in its capacity to help people face and work through painful, challenging, or traumatic experiences. My web site is called Saphêneia — a word that reflects how clarity and knowledge arise from within, as we become present to our whole experience. Not just through thinking but through feeling, sensing, and relating.
My aim, above all is to provide an accessible, relational, professional, ethical and evidence-based practice. Where your wellbeing, safety, and unique self can be seen, heard, and understood. I am not an empty chair - I am committed to being fully engaged in our relationship and our collaborative work, which I see as a vital part of therapeutic change.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
