I will support you in getting a clear idea of what you want and figuring out what stops you from moving from where you are to where you want to be. Once we know what we are working towards, we can agree on a strategy for getting there. It usually involves developing your awareness of your habitual processes that keep you stuck; working through blocked emotions or unfinished business from the past, and expanding your repertoire of available resources and strategies for getting what you want or need.
I draw from a broad range of approaches and adjust to the needs of the individual. In this sense, we create the therapy together. Things that might inform our way of working: our respective personalities; what you are working on and towards; what you have tried before; my training and experience.
What remains consistent in all of my work is that I encourage an attitude of present-centred awareness and curiosity. This means paying attention to what is going on inside and between us during our conversations. What we notice will inform the choices that we make in our work together. I find there are two key benefits to working in this way: (1) there is a wealth of useful information to be found in the present moment; (2) it provides a training environment for developing a helpful way of relating to yourself and others.
My aim is to support you in improving your quality of life, whatever this means for you. It could include: more fulfilment at work, a richer life outside of work, stronger connections with others, healthier intimate relationships, or a better sex life. We will work together to identify what you hope for and what stops you from getting it. I will challenge and support you to work through any unfinished business from the past; resolve unprocessed emotions; and develop your awareness so that you can live your life more closely in line with what matters most to you.
