My Approach

People come to therapy feeling anxious, low, distressed, or just needing someone to talk things through with. As an integrative therapist, I adapt my approach and skills to suit the individual. I aim to meet you with compassion and respect whatever is troubling you, and accompany you as we work towards change.

Sometimes issues are rooted in early life experiences and unconscious beliefs; over time we can gently explore these patterns to find better ways of relating to ourselves and others. Sometimes it is more the present situation which needs to be addressed; we might work, for example, by understanding the nature of the challenge and learning new skills. I take a holistic view of a person - so mind, body, spirit - but also how a person fits into the systems and world around them.

I offer talking therapy and also (if wanted) exploration via art/creativity. I believe that we can all access inner resources which support healing, and that the presence, empathy and understanding of another can be a catalyst for this alchemical process.

I have worked with bereavement, separation, illness, early life isssues, traumatic histories, lack of confidence, self-esteem, neurodivergence. My practice has included clients from 18 to 80-something. I'm fascinated by the stages of life we go through as we mature and the different challenges and opportunities these bring. Students/trainees welcome.

We would meet for an inital session so that you can get a sense of whether you'd like to work with me. Cost: £65 per session (conc. £60)

I offer a free initial phonecall of 15-20 minutes, prior to a first session, if this would be helpful.

About Me

I'm an experienced integrative transpersonal psychotherapist working with adults of all ages. I see clients in person in Haywards Heath, and also offer therapy online/by phone.

I have a Post-graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy from CCPE (London) and also a Research Masters (Distinction) in Transpersonal Psychotherapy. I have always been interested in psychology and healing; I balance this with practical hobbies such as gardening and volunteer conservation work.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Anxiety can arise from various causes. I will help you to tease out any underlying issues, find ways to relate to/manage your feelings, and make adjustments in your life that would be supportive. The aim is to feel more centred and in control of your situation.
I help people come to terms with grief and loss, and find ways to move forward. My experience includes working with those recently bereaved, bereaved in childhood, and losing someone to suicide.
Depression is a painful and debilitating state of being. Sometimes a reaction to specific events, it can also arise without obvious reason; it can be occassional or persistent. Sometimes it is a signal that something needs to be acknowledged or changed about one's life. Talking with a person unconnected to one's personal situation can help bring in the light.
I have worked with people with both chronic illness and in recovery from acute conditions. I have learnt that while illness in itself is challenging, so much is also about our personal relationship to the pain or limitation. For example, do we feel somehow guilty or responsible for it? Does it make us feel angry? What would it mean to be kind to ourselves? What do we need to live a meaningful life? In exploring these themes there often arises a new and more expansive relationship to the difficult symptoms.
We are impacted in so many ways by the quality of our relationships, whether past or present. Exploring what is going on for us can help with understanding feelings, changing habitual or unconscious patterns of relating, experimenting with new ways of looking at ourselves and the other, making decisions.
