My Approach

I am firmly rooted in psychodynamic theory, drawing on existential and solution focused approaches as needed. I pay close attention to what matters to you, and to what lies beneath what is said, working with the unconscious as much as the spoken. I see people as part of a system rather than in isolation, and understand being as something dynamic and always in process.

I bring an understanding of intersectionality to each person's experience, wary of labels and more interested in getting to the root of what is actually going on for you. Respect and a non judgemental approach are fundamental to how I work.

About Me

Finding the right therapist for you is not easy, particularly when there are so many to choose from and so many different styles and approaches.

I understand you're just trying to find someone who will understand your experience of being in the world.

My therapeutic style is based around respect and empathy. My aim is to understand you and help you alleviate your pain and become more aware of your feelings and your patterns of relating to yourself and to others.

Drawing from psychodynamic and existential theories, I use an integrative approach to understand your life experiences and how they have led to you feeling stuck, depressed, unhappy, lost, confused, or whatever the reasons might be for seeking therapy now.

Your problems and challenges are not trivial and they are important to me. I believe each person already has within them a natural desire to grow, and that is what therapy with me is first about: bringing about awareness that leads to change and personal growth.

Psychotherapy is a commitment.

Psychotherapy is a brave commitment, there is no doubt about that, and change can be difficult but not impossible. Therapy challenges you to sit with uncomfortable emotions, to explore the complexity of where you're at. To go through such a journey is courageous, and you'll need someone who can go through it with you. I believe the best therapy is one where you get to surprise yourself by what is possible.
