How we are structured

Faculties and groups

There are a range of ways – both online and offline – for UKCP members to get together with others to discuss practice issues and developments in the profession. They range from faculties at the more formal end of the scale through special interest groups to psychotherapy clubs.

Members forum

The members forum is a debating chamber where any member may have their voice heard. Its purpose is to facilitate better communication between different parts of UKCP, regardless of where people are based, their psychotherapeutic approach or their activities or services within UKCP.

UKCP colleges

UKCP colleges are collections of members – organisational or individual – who share a philosophy of psychotherapy. Each college holds standards for education, training and practice that are compatible with UKCP’s generic standards and with the individual college’s philosophy. Colleges are responsible for accepting applicants into full membership of UKCP and all existing members must belong to a college.

College for Child and Adolescent Psychotherapies (CCAP)

UKCP College for Child and Adolescent Psychotherapies (CCAP) has as its central aim to support the positive health and well-being of children and young people and to relieve their distress and suffering. The focus of all work in the College is on the nature and needs of children rather than on a particular theory or approach. UKCP Child Practitioners are able to communicate with children through art and play, to understand their non-verbal language, identify their developmental needs, and offering guidance to parents, carers and fellow professionals where needed.   

College for Sexual and Relationship Psychotherapy

Psychotherapists in the College for Sexual and Relationship Psychotherapy are trained and accredited to work with all aspects of human sexuality and gender issues.
