The Southern Association for Psychotherapy and Counselling (SAFPAC) UKCP Training in Critical Existential-Analytic Psychotherapy & Psychotherapeutic Counselling, can enable you to:
• Develop your therapeutic relational abilities to help others be clearer about the meaning of their experiences and desires
•Train and be on the UKCP register as an existential analytic psychotherapist and existential analytic psychotherapeutic counsellor
• Learn through a practice-based programme in Wimbledon, London (Thursday evenings and one Saturday a term)
• Consider the implications of what emerges in practice through humanistic, existential and psychoanalytic ideas, as well as the arts and humanities
• Develop critical perspectives, theoretically and politically, on psychotherapy and the nature of psychotherapeutic knowledge
• Have the opportunity to undertake the optional module in phototherapy and therapeutic photography and receive supervision for up to half such practices throughout the programme
• Be part of a learning community facilitated by university-experienced lecturers who are also practitioners and researchers
• Access experienced clinical and academic supervisors and existential analytic psychotherapists
• Hear from a wide range of visiting speakers
About
SAFPAC, a not-for-profit company, was formed in 1998 from the MSc and PhD in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Surrey and subsequently also from the PsychD at the University of Roehampton.
The Training
• Phase one is an introduction to critical psychotherapy and phenomenology initially through Rogers.
• Phase two explores phenomenology in existentialism, psychoanalysis and critical psychotherapy.
• Phase three addresses some implications of theory and research for thoughtful practice.
• Phase four focuses on developing practice: brief and long-term therapy.
