UKCP invites all postgraduate and early career researchers to join our Emerging Researcher Network (ERN).
At our next online meeting this September, we will welcome Dr Mick Cooper (professor of counselling psychology at the University of Roehampton) to discuss how research theses and dissertations can be converted into publishable journal articles.
Dr Cooper will discuss the rationale for publishing research and key elements of the process, including finding an appropriate journal, refining down your thesis to journal length, working with supervisors and the submission and revision process.
Mick is a UKCP-registered existential psychotherapist and a chartered psychologist. His books include Essential research findings in counselling and psychotherapy: the facts are friendly (Sage, 2026) and Working at relational depth in counselling and psychotherapy (2nd ed., Sage, 2018).
Mick’s principal areas of research have been in shared decision-making/personalising therapy and counselling for young people in schools. In recent work, he has been exploring the contribution that counselling theory and practice can make to wider social change and justice, co-founding the Therapy and Social Change network and authoring Psychology at the heart of social change: towards a progressive vision for society (Bristol University, 2023).
After this event, you will receive a certificate of attendance which you can submit for consideration towards your CPD hours.
You can book free tickets for the meeting on Eventbrite. The Zoom link for the event will be sent directly to registered delegates on 22 September.
Be among the first to receive more information on the ERN and all future events by signing up to our mailing list for the network. You can read more about the ERN here.
