Did you know that 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage?

In this episode we spoke to UKCP psychotherapist Julia Bueno. Julia has extensive experience supporting people who have experienced pregnancy loss or a struggle to conceive. She is the author of the ‘The Brink of Being’ which is a compassionate and informative resource for those who have experienced miscarriage.

In this episode we sought to find out why so few people open up about miscarriage when so many experience it.

Julia says: ‘Women today still live in a world that is very pro-natal and there’s an expectation that she should bear fruit and that she’s a lesser being if she doesn’t.’

In her article for Psychologies magazine, our CEO Professor Sarah Niblock considers…She writes: ‘As well as the emotional dimensions of miscarriage, the physical experience can be traumatising … it is difficult for anyone who hasn’t been through it to understand its visceral physicality.’
