My Approach

I use a broad range of approaches that facilitate the exploration of the underlying, repressed, and unconscious motives and patterns that may have been directing your life, and influencing your thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and relationships beneath your conscious awareness. Uncovering these hidden motives can be healing and life-affirming, and can help in developing emotional resilience.
Using a synthesis of approaches means that to the best of my ability, I seek to develop a way of working with you that is especially designed for you. The approaches I draw from, I especially draw from Humanistic, Relational, Psychodynamic, Existential, Jungian, Archetypal and Transpersonal approaches. Transpersonal practice draws from dreams, myths, creative mediums and imagination to address deep-rooted emotional concerns which can have a surprising impact on specific life difficulties. Or, we may explore transpersonal matters such as meaning, calling, soul, ecology and the more-than-personal. Integrative psychotherapy draws from the wisdom of the psyche and its creative and integrative functions to widen perspective, release feeling, and to increase self-awareness. Whatever your individual reasons are for coming to therapy; I am here to support you to explore your life circumstances and to gain meaningful insights into the difficulties you are experiencing in a safe and containing way.

About Me

I am an Integrative Transpersonal psychotherapist and counsellor. I have been working in private practice and in the voluntary sector since 2003. I am a registered member of UKCP and BACP. I work online, and have a private practice in Kingston upon Thames providing in-person sessions to adults and counselling students around a wide range of issues. My training which is based on the ‘Relational’ model of ‘Depth Psychotherapy’ allows me to work within a framework of support in which it becomes possible for my clients to restore their own sense of uniqueness. It enables me to foster and maintain deep and sustained emotional contact, and a supportive relationship that empowers and embraces difference and diversity.

Since 2003, I have worked with clients from all walks of life, and with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression and loss of meaning, bereavement and loss, abuse, trauma, dissociation, chronic shame, isolation and withdrawal, difficulties involving difference, discrimination and marginalisation, life transitions and creative self-discovery.

I have experience of working therapeutically with more complex issues, such as PTSD, Borderline Personality and Dissociative Identity Adaptations, Physical, Emotional, Sexual, and Institutional Abuse, and with neuro-diverse clients, counselling students and artists.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

The loss of our dear loved ones can strip life of meaning and throw us into a state of suspension between life and death. I have developed a way of working with bereavement that allows pain to be pain; not in the hope that it will be banished but in the belief that it will find its place in the shape of one's life.
Life today is as challenging as ever, and as human beings we sometimes experience difficulties adjusting emotionally and psychologically to life events that overwhelm us and throw us into a state of deep depression. I work with depression through creative mediums.
My work involves working with the so-called dissociative identity disorders (DID). I have a good deal of experience working with dissociative states, with emotional dysregulation, memory difficulties, loss of a sense of self or identity, feeling shutdown or emotionless, and overwhelmed.
The power of a good therapeutic relationship is invaluable, as it can be a vehicle for the safe exploration of painful emotions and a deeper understanding of the patterns in our relationships with others, to aspects of ourselves, and to the transpersonal aspects of our human existence. My work is integrative, blending various approaches and models of therapy which can be helpful in showing how we process our emotional experiences, especially in the context of our attachments and our relationships.
All of us have experienced some element of abandonment and mis-attunement in our lives. Those of us with deep-rooted emotional concerns and traumas, who are struggling with feelings of depression, despair, feelings of inferiority, anxiety, powerlessness, loss of meaning, and feeling shut down and deeply stuck, and those who have experienced marginalisation because of difference, or those of us struggling to survive childhood abuse may find a deeper exploration and a more in-depth approach more beneficial. A good part of my work has been around these particular concerns.
