I am passionate about supporting and empowering individuals, couples and families to overcome their difficulties in their relationships. I have developed a warm and compassionate style to enable couples and families to equally share their views and feel heard and understood.
I have over 30 years’ experience of working within the NHS in a variety of multidisciplinary mental health settings. I am a fully qualified Systemic Family Therapist and a member of the (AFT) Association of Family Therapy and registered with the (UKCP) United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy. I also hold an Advanced diploma in Systemic supervision.
I have worked in specialist services to include; Adult substance misuse in both inpatient and outpatient services and Young People’s substance misuse outreach services. Over the last 10 years I have worked as lead family therapist within Oxford, Marlborough and Wiltshire Specialist adult inpatient and community eating disorder services.
Whilst working in the NHS my specialist interests included; Working with adult survivors of child sexual abuse. Introduction of a project to address the harm caused to children and young people, as a result of another family members substance misuse and anti-social related behaviour. Co-facilitated parenting classes. Co-facilitated child protection training to professionals. I also developed and facilitated carer skills based workshops (based on the Maudsley approach). I presented my clinical practice both at substance misuse and eating disorder international conferences and had an article published in both Addictions Today and Journal of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy.
