My Approach

I trained in Mindfulness-based Psychotherapy at the Karuna Institute, this approach incorporates Buddhist psychology and understanding of what it is to be human in these times, and how slowing down and bringing awareness to what is happening can help us begin the healing process.
I specialise in working with trauma, in particular how our early experiences may continue to impact us throughout our lives.
My trainings in Trauma and Craniosacral Therapy have taught me so much about how we hold our experiences in our bodies.
I have learnt that meeting each person and their situation with presence and groundedness helps to settle their nervous systems, and then they can begin to relax and heal in their body and mind.

I also offer supervision to therapists.

About Me

My background is in Accident and Emergency Nursing, where I worked for many years as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner. Working in this environment I learnt about managing every kind of stress, trauma, illness, and every different type of response to these situations.

I have trained in a few different modalities over the years - Craniosacral Therapy, Pre-and Perinatal Therapy, Core Process Psychotherapy, TRE®(Tension and Trauma Release), Aquatic Bodywork. I have been blessed with so many wonderful teachers, and feel very happy to pass on in my work some of what I have learnt. I now have retired from the NHS and run a busy private practice in North Oxfordshire. I also run Trauma trainings in the UK and Europe.

I live in a small community in North Oxfordshire, where we grow a lot of our own food on a small-holding next to the canal.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have alot of experience working with people who have a trauma history, particularly those with early trauma, a deep understanding of how these early experiences continue to impact us on a daily basis, how they affect our nervous systems, making us more prone to anxiety, stress, depression, and many physical illnesses aswell. This work - the presence of a grounded, attuned therapist can help clients begin to recognise their own reactions and responses to stress and trauma, to bring awareness to what is happening in their bodies, as well as their minds, and learn how to regulate their nervous systems.
