My Approach

Hello. Thank you for taking the time to read my bio. Acknowledging you might need support from someone like me is a really courageous thing to do because it is about asking for help which can be scary! I am a relational integrative psychotherapist which essentially translates as the therapeutic relationship I hope to form with you can help illuminate for you other relationship patterns in your life. In my way of practising I integrate different theoretical perspectives on human development and what us humans need to be safe, healthy and connected with ourselves and each other. Some of these are theoretical but I also have a keen interest in findings from neuroscience and what this is ever teaching us about the impact of our lived experiences on how we are with ourselves and others.

Integration also means to bring together and make whole and that's a bit like my hopes for you if you enter into psychotherapy with me. My aim is to provide you an opportunity to understand yourself better, through your relationship with me.

Therapy should be a process which allows all of you to have a safe space to be welcomed, acknowledged, considered, understood and accepted-the good, the bad, the out of sight and the indifferent bits of you. My aim is to provide such a space, free of judgement and where you will feel ok to just be you with me.

About Me

I have always worked with people in some form or other. Before I was a therapist I spent over 20 years working within the criminal justice system both in the community and in prisons. I have also had extensive experience running groups and it was my curiosity from group work that spurred me onto train as a psychotherapist because I really wanted to better understand what happens to us humans when we are with other humans that might differ from when we are alone.

My direct client experience covers for example; all sorts of interpersonal relationship difficulties. Managing anxiety and feelings of low self-esteem and worthlessness. Being in an abusive relationship. Supporting clients with gambling addictions, pornagraphy and other internet based addictions and problematic behaviours. Supporting clients to be their authentic selves and lose the 'I should and could' and focus more on the what 'I really need to feel whole and content is......'.

I am a first generation British born woman but my origins are from the Middle East. This means I have lived experience of what is like to be born in one place and live your life in that place but always knowing your origins are from somewhere very different.

I work with

  • Couples
  • Individuals

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

internet based problematic behaviours including pornography, gaming and gambling.
One of the hidden disabilities that does not get talked about often but is still very much present
Clients wanting support to help them recognise whether they are in an abusive relationship and to support them around their decisions moving forward
whether you are someone who has experienced sexual abuse or is worried about your own behaviour towards others then it is important you have a safe place to process what is going on for you.
If you want to work with me but geographically it is not possible to do that in person then let's see whether we can work together successfully via zoom
