I am a member of the Guild of Psychotherapists with five years’ experience working in charitable organisations, the NHS and the private sector. I’ve worked successfully with adults of all ages suffering anxiety, depression, complex bereavement, damaged confidence, difficulties in relationships, creative and work-related troubles, and chronic pain. I have experience working with issues around addiction, self-harm and disordered eating and have co-facilitated psychotherapy groups. I often see people more than once a week but naturally this depends on what individuals need or can manage. I have worked successfully in time-limited therapy as well as longer term, open-ended therapy that brings about deep change. My approach is pluralist, psychoanalytic and relational. I aim to establish a good therapeutic relationship with the people I see, the better to approach any present tangles, traces of past experience and troublesome inner conflicts.

My background is in university teaching: English literature, critical theory and philosophy. I see these areas of awareness and response as closely related to my work as a psychotherapist. They involve curiosity, deep attention, human concern and some capacity to read the signs in front of me!
