I am a family and systemic psychotherapist who applies systemic model of thinking when supporting my clients. I work with a range of age group: children, adolescents, young people, adults, couples and families.
I am a Family Therapist and Systemic Psychotherapist registered with United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and Association for Family Therapy and Systemic Practice (AFT). I hold a Masters in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy (Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust), Masters in Social Work (Goldsmiths, University of London) and BSc (Hons) Politics (University of London).
As well as practicing privately, I am employed by the NHS as a Family Therapist and Systemic Psychotherapist. I am also a visiting Lecturer/Consultant Trainer and Mentor with the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust as well as a Supervisor.
I work with a varied client group that can include: Individuals, Couples and Families presenting with a range of difficulties such as Family Transitions (e.g. new baby, parenting, child/ren leaving home), Family Conflicts, Parental Separation and Divorce, Anxiety and Depression. I also works with Children, Teenagers and Young People – ranging from Self-Harming, Low Mood/Depression, Eating Disorders (Bulimia and Anorexia Nervosa), Neuro Developmental concerns (ASD), Bullying, General Anxiety and Anxiety around school/college/university/new job and so on.
I am a British South Asian (Bengali/Sylheti) female who has personal experience of growing up in the UK/West and is very appreciative of the intricate dilemmas, affordances and constraints a female/young person can face. My personal experiences of navigating multiple racial, cultural and linguistic contexts and professional experience of different systemic training institutes have engendered in me an appreciation of and commitment to diversity, multiplicity and intersectionality. I am also a mother to two children, and alongside my professional experience, I have personal insight into complexities around parenting and child rearing.
Previously, I have worked in children’s social care as a Child Protection Social Worker within local authority and charity setting (NSPCC).
I am passionate about human mental wellness and wellbeing. I am always keen to seek out innovative methods to support this area and enhance my development as a Family Therapist and Systemic Psychotherapist. I am also a keen outdoor enthusiast – give me a green space and that will be my happy place! I am also passionate about giving my time to precious causes; currently I volunteer for Marie Curie Cancer Care as a Volunteer Befriender.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
