My Approach

As a systemic therapist I hold curiosity about the problem, I take a non blaming and non judgemental position. I see the problem as often having been created in the relationships between people (often in a family) rather than being located “inside” any one person. Systemic psychotherapy, is non blaming, it looks to identify strengths in the hope of building supportive communication, understanding and collaboration between family members enabling them to move forward in life.
It is my aim that my therapy sessions using a systemic approach will make your therapeutic journey meaningful and purposeful. I will support you to make sense of your interpersonal relationships and family dynamics and context, helping you to gain new understanding and perspectives on how your relationships influence and shape you as a person.
Working with young people.
I am a specialised in Systemic Child Focused Therapy and have many years experience working with children and adolescents. I really enjoy using a variety of skilled kinaesthetic, playful creative, visual, therapeutic techniques, such as narrative therapy, my methods are sucessful in engaging most young people in sessions and enables them to have a positive experience of the therapy process.

I can work with any combinations of family, couples, individuals, sibling groups or friends.

About Me

I have over 28 years experience working and supporting families, couples, children and adolescents in settings within the NHS, Education, Children Services and in private practice. The knowledge and skills that I have gained while working as a teacher in Early Years and adult education, as a play therapist, parent coach has been complimentary in my career as a systemic pychotherpist.
I love the work that I do and have always been encouraged by the positive feedback from clients, who have describe me as calm, wise, approachable, creative, skilled and effective.
I place value on collabourative working style and support family or individuals to reflect on what has brought them into the therapy room.I help them to identify what they wish to be different in their lives and then I offer techniques and pathways in therapy that will enable positive life changes to be made.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

With systemic skills we look to explore and examine how to manage and live with ADHD, identify strenghths and acknowledge the challenges of the past and present that may lead you to a more positve place of hope.
Systemic techniques in sessions will be used to explore your narrative of anxiety. Together we will build a toolbox of strategies that may help you to postiviley manage the anxiety
When families seek support in therapy, they are often struggling to know how to be the best parents. I have acquired in depth knowledge and skills of child development and parenting in my roles within the NHS, Education and Public Services. This has complemented my MSc in Systemic Therapy and strengthened my specialist Child Focused Systemic Practice. I feel confident working with children and parents to support them to resolve their difficulties and to find new alternative pathways forward enabling families to reach their goals. My Work Experiences. • Nursery school teacher/Head of various preschools. • Head of Department of Early Years at a Further Education College, • Teacher working with challenging teenagers, • Play therapist at Charing Cross Hospital part of a multidisciplinary clinical assessment team f • Team leader for a parenting support team, offering families parenting coaching • Lead practitioner for Mental Health supporting families who have requested systemic consultations I am also qualified in facilitation of the following evidenced based parenting groups;- Teen and Group Triple P, Incredible Years, Strengthening Families and The Parenting Puzzle.
Systemic psychotherapy believes we are interconnected to those around us. Therefore, problems that we face may come from unhealthy communication patterns within the groups or context which you are living in. I will have sensitive curiosity about this, together we will have conversations which explore the patterns of communication within your relationships. We will build on your strengths, which will support you to have the confidence to make positive change in your communication and in your life.
