I have over twenty years experience as a psychotherapist and training supervisor, currently in the NHS and in Private Practice. My specialist areas include;
CAT- Cognitive Analytic Therapy. CAT began as a ' time-limited' therapy treatment ( 16 to 24 sessions and now with longer term courses of CAT available ) It is helpful for people with difficulties in relationships either currently or in the past, about which they would like to increase understanding and improve their patterns of relating. This therapy provides a safe space to explore memories and feelings that have added to unhappiness. CAT utilises tools such as interpersoanl role diagrams to gain greater clarity in relating to self and other.
Art Psychotherapy; This therapy is garden studio based. Art making is recognised as supporting increased awareness of feelings and thoughts that help build insight and self and other awarenss. No prior art making expertise is required and this approach would be helpful to those who may find art images a meaingful way to express inner feelings and memories. I am state registered with HCPC.
Psychosexual Certificate; How people feel about themselves and others is based on life experiences. This can impact on the very personal area of sexuality. My Tavistock Relationships certificated course enables me to support verbal exploraration in this relational area within the therapy models described above, should the individual wish to do so.
My consuting room is at AL2 2NF where there is visitor parking. There is access from north of Edgware and south of St Albans on the A5183 or by train from Watford Junction to Park Street. There is a regular bus service nearby running from Welyn Garden City via Hatfied and Borehamwood via Radlett.
