I am an existential psychotherapist and existential psychotherapy is an approach informed by existential philosophy, and is concerned with making sense of the world in the face of whatever difficulties we may be experiencing.

Therapy is a collaborative and cooperative process. It is not about diagnosis or categorizing: it is about the opening up of possibility within a life that sometimes feels stuck. But it may also be a time to face up to things previously ignored evaded or avoided.

It is about understanding everyday life experience in general, and the aspects of your life that bring you to therapy, in particular. Its about encouraging you to find your own answers to the questions that you face according to your own values and beliefs.

No matter how the issue initially presents itself, it connects us to what is meaningful and this raises the kind of questions which do not have ready or easy answers, but if we think together about it, although it is initially confusing and unclear, will gradually become clearer. This revelation usually brings a feeling of relief and enables you to feel not so stuck.

I believe that our current relationships and ways of solving problems are often, influenced by past events and how we understood them at the time. I am interested in the way we unwittingly repeat in adulthood, these patterns we learnt in childhood, no matter that they may no longer be helpful, and even that they play a part in maintaining our current problems.

By recognising these pattern and understanding what triggers them, how they are maintained, we are in a better position to understand our strengths and limitations are, and our possibilities and choices. To work out new ways of thinking and acting that can help us lead a more fulfilling life.

I work on the assumption that feeling safe within therapy, forms the basis of our work together. My approach is also jargon-free 퀌
