About Me

I have been a UKCP registered psychotherapist since 1996 and a counsellor since 1994. I have extensive experience of working with teenagers, young adults and adults. I qualified as a supervisor in 2002 and I have since supervised psychotherapists, counsellors and organizational managers. My Doctor of Education is underpinned in Winnicott's theory of Transitional Object Transitional Phenomena and the focus of my thesis is supervision. My Psychotherapy, Counselling and Supervision orientation is Psychosynthesis that is, a model that facilitates personal and transpersonal development. Psychosynthesis is designed to unpack unconscious processes and understand and make sense of the different sub-personalities that as individuals we relate from. By recognising these different parts of the ‘self’ it is then possible to make choices that enhance personal development, growth and potential. The philosophy of Psychosynthesis is influenced by psychoanalytical, existential, behavioural and gestalt theories and practice. Psychosynthesis provides an opportunity to understand and make sense of emotional crisis. Individual emotional crisis emerges unexpectedly in different forms and at different times in life. This emotional crisis is often triggered by defence mechanisms that are reinforced from birth and can fragment at different points in life due to pressure and/or change. I work with clients with a diverse range of concerns such as crisis of meaning, depression, relationships, spiritual crisis, bereavement, child sexual abuse, rape, domestic violence, post-traumatic stress, physical health, sexuality and anxiety.
