As an Integrative Child Psychotherapist I offer therapeutic support to children and young people (ages 5-18 years) who need a safe and confidential space to explore the difficulties and dilemmas which may be troubling them and their family. The type of support I provide is individual work with children and young people using the arts and play, alongside talking, to help promote healthy emotional and psychological development. I also recognise the huge value in working holistically with the important people in their lives and so aim to work collaboratively with parents, carers and other professionals who support the child and family.
My speciality is in working longer-term to achieve in-depth understanding of each child or young person, and using the therapeutic relationship to facilitate lasting change. I work with a wide range of issues causing concern including anxiety, bereavement, self-harm and behaviour difficulties, and am experienced in working with children and young people with learning difficulties. I have a special interest in working with children and young people who have experienced early trauma such as neglect, abuse and violence, and where their early significant relationships have been frightening and stressful rather than warm and nurturing and have a lot of experience working with children and young people in the care system.
I hold a Master's Degree from the Institute of Arts in Therapy and Education, from where I graduated in 2013. I am registered with UKCP and BACP and adhere to the strict ethical codes of both professional bodies. I have Professional Indemnity Insurance and hold an up-to-date enhanced DBS certificate. I undertake regular professional development and attend regular clinical supervision.
I currently work with primary and secondary schools in West Sussex and Brighton & Hove and offer sessions in private practice in the Worthing and Brighton areas.
