Lucy’s approach is relational, warm and compassionate. She integrates talking, the arts, somatic experiencing, and management techniques within her approach, depending on the needs of the person she is working with. Lucy’s theoretical approach is integrative and trauma informed, she pulls on theories from a Psychodynamic and Humanist approach, in addition to elements from Body Psychotherapy and Neuroscience. Consequently, Lucy has helped many children and young people to be able to express and work through what previously may have felt like untouchable and unbearable amounts of pain.
Lucy has worked therapeutically with children, adolescents and young adults for over 15 years both in the UK and in the Middle East. She has a great deal of experience, which spans working with hard to reach children and young people whose issues and behaviour have meant they have been marginalised by society, to working with privately educated young people who are headed to the UK’s leading universities.
In the UK, Lucy has worked as a school counsellor and therapist for the Place2be, Kids Company and ISP an independent fostering organisation who support looked after children. She has also set up a counselling service in an alternative provision (PRU) in Southwark, and worked therapeutically with young people excluded from mainstream education. Lucy has worked for EACH and HAGAM, London based Charites that support young people and adults affected by substance misuse related problems. Whilst at EACH, Lucy set up and co-ordinated counselling services and worked therapeutically in numerous schools and colleges. At HAGAM Lucy worked with young adults with substance misuse problems.
In the Middle East, Lucy set up a counselling service in one of the leading British Private School’s in Qatar. She worked therapeutically within the school with Third Culture Kids from, British, Middle Eastern and Asian nationalities.
Currently. Lucy works as a therapist in an international school. She also works for an organisation where she consults with leadership in schools to ascertain their mental health needs, then draws up packages to suit them.
