I am an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor based in Spalding, Lincolnshire. I offer a confidential and non-judgemental space to explore the issues that are troubling you and help you work through the problems you face. Counselling can help support you to find your way from the place you are in, to a place more authentic with who you are and where you want to be in your life. This can help to create some clarity and self-understanding and inspire the possibility to achieve lasting, positive change in your life.
My aim is to offer a space which helps you to feel at ease, where you can talk freely about what is worrying you, what matters to you, and the experiences that have shaped you. Working together, we will explore, manage and make sense of life's challenges and difficulties whilst nurturing hope and possibility. I draw on theories and concepts from the three main schools of psychological thought: Psychodynamic, Humanistic and Cognitive Behavioural (CBT). My approach is primarily psychodynamic and humanistic, and influenced by attachment theory and current neuroscience. This gives me flexibility in my practice that allows sessions to be uniquely tailored to you, in a relational and collaborative style. My work also recognises the crucial connection of body and mind and I have a particular interest in Mindfulness approaches and Somatic therapies. Whatever brings you here, my hope is that by working together help you to find a pathway forward that brings meaning and purpose in your life.
When we first meet we will look together at what is happening for you, how it is affecting different areas of your life, and what you might like to be different. By the end of this session you will have a clearer understanding if beginning therapy feels right for you. I understand it can be an overwhelming task to find the right therapist for you. If you are unsure, I am happy to answer any questions you may have about your specific situation and how I can be of help. Please do get in touch to arrange an initial telephone conversation with me.
I offer sessions in-person and online by video call. In-person appointments are available depending upon government guidance and any safety concerns. I work both short-term and open-ended, depending on what presenting issues you may wish to work through.
I work with a broad range of issues including (but not limited to); depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, eating disorders, physical, sexual and emotional abuse issues, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, low self-worth, feeling lost or unhappy, long term illness, workplace stress and emotional overwhelm. I have worked extensively with adults and couples in my private practice and I work with various emergency and frontline services, including Police and veterans experiencing PTSD and trauma.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
